I used to be the girl to wait around for someone to give me permission. This year I gave myself permission. Permission to try. Permission to fail. Permission to succeed.
I no longer want myself or someone else to tell me my reality is too uncomfortable. My reality cannot be dictated to me based on what someone else sees.
Comedy is my escape from the issues that surround me every day. I want to be able to hold up a mirror to myself and society and say “look how ridiculous this is”.
My career goal is to become what my early comedy heroes were to me: someone who is able to share my vulnerability in order to make others laugh and think. I want to remind people that we all need to coexist.
Getting my head shots was my first step in giving myself permission.
